Let's take a look back to the 13th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences (WC13) in Rio!
At L'Oréal Groupe, our commitment is clear: science without animal testing. That's why we've proudly supported this major scientific event for over 20 years.
This year's WC13 Rio - World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences was historic, being the first to be held in the Southern Hemisphere and coinciding with Brazil's recent law prohibiting animal testing for cosmetic products.

More than 700 scientists, all united by the same vision of an animal-testing-free future.
The congress provided a powerful platform for essential discussions on innovation, ethics, regulation, and the sustainability of alternative methods.
We were thrilled to highlight the expertise of EPISKIN:
The EPISKIN Brazil team, with Nathalie Alepee, delivered an impactful practical training session on the OECD 467 Framework & Eye Irritation (OECD TG 492B), engaging over 20 enthusiastic participants in valuable exchanges.
During the "Confidence in In Vitro Alternatives" session, our expert, Vanja Dakic, had the opportunity to present on the global standardization of Reconstructed Human Tissue production at EPISKIN, guided by the GIVIMP TG.
Vanja also chaired a stimulating discussion on "The Power of NAMs for Global Acceptance for Local Tolerance", featuring Nathalie Alepee (L'Oréal / EPISKIN), Juliana Vecina (Mérieux NutriSciences), Takao Ashikaga (JaCVAM), and Kristie Sullivan (IIVS).
Discussions like these are crucial for fostering collaboration and accelerating positive change.
It was also a pleasure to bring together the five promising startups hosted in the L'Oréal Innovation Village, a testament to our commitment to supporting emerging talents in this field.
Special thanks to the congress presidents in Brazil: Octavio Presgrave, Marize Campos Valadares, and Chantra Eskes, for their tireless work and dedication. Their leadership made WC13 an event of such global impact!
