Reconstructed Human Oral Epithelium in vitro

When cultivated in vitro on a polycarbonate filter at the air liquid interface in chemically defined medium, the transformed human keratinocytes of the cell line TR146 (from a squamous cell carcinoma of the buccal mucosa) form an epithelial tissue devoid of stratum corneum, resembling histologically to the mucosa of the oral cavity.
